Please click on each of the ways below to find out more information.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/importing-from-autocad\/\">AutoCAD drawings<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/importing-from-shapefiles\/\">GIS Shapefiles<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/data-importing-from-bitmaps\/\">Bitmaps<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/import-from-spreadsheets\/\">Import from spreadsheets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/importing-with-script-interface\/\">Scripting interface<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/import-from-enterprise-models\/\">Import from Enterprise models<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.noisemap.ltd.uk\/wpress\/features\/data-importing-2\/input-on-screen\/\">Direct on-screen input<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The quickest way of creating a noise model in NoiseMap\u00a0five is from suitable digital mapping.\u00a0 Two commonly-available formats for digital maps are DXF and Shapefiles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">You may not have much choice over which type of data format is available.\u00a0 Most highway design CAD packages produce DXF or DWG (AutoCAD Drawing) format files, whereas shapefiles are available if the data is exported from a GIS.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a choice, then shapefiles would be better if they have the attributes of objects (particularly traffic flows).\u00a0 If they do not have the attributes, then there is little to choose between them.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a full set of shapefiles with attributes, you can create a noise model simply by importing all the shapefiles.\u00a0 If not, NoiseMap\u00a0five contains all the tools that you need to create a noise map from basic information.\u00a0 In fact, you can create a noise model without having any digital maps at all, although the process with be much slower and is not ideal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several different methods that can be used in order to import data to create a model, and hence a noise map.
