Hardware requirements

Client Machines
NoiseMap is mathematically intensive.  Client machines will benefit from the fastest processors available, especially when using NoiseMap five to model huge areas. A machine specified for CAD or similar work should be suitable.  NoiseMap five is multi-threaded, allowing noise calculations to use all available cores in a single computer.

A fast graphics card is recommended for viewing large areas, with Open GL support for 3D viewing. A minimum of 8 GB of RAM is recommended on Windows 7 and above.   A hard disk of 80GB is adequate. A 21 inch or larger display is advantageous. Twin screens will ease the handling of large model. WinTab driver is required for digitising tablets.

Server Machines
Operating system: Windows Server 2003 or above.
2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 160GB hard disk
Backup system
Server machines only host the databases, they do not undertake calculations and therefore do not need to be high-powered.
